The existing cemetery needed to expand and cater for up to 55 new grave plots, a new design was needed. The existing layout included an overgrown perimeter hedge and very many trees some of which were in poor condition.
The new design for the cemetery was based on an existing mature Irish Yew, a linear path leading up to it, and a symetrical layout. New paths, hedges and trees were added with a fresh new appearance achieved using all uniform headstones and a lawnmower edge around these, helping to keep maintenance low. An Irish limestone paved square was built on the central axis with seating and signage allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the surroundings or indeed to enjoy the new repositioned Calvary Scene. All other paths were surfaced with resin bound gravel which really gives the space a lift.
